Alternative Dispute Resolution

Mediation

Ms. Ryan is an experienced mediator and obtained her training at the prestigious Straus Institute for Mediation at Pepperdine University School of Law.  She currently serves on the Mediation Panel for the American Arbitration Association.

Mediation is a form of conflict resolution allowing the parties to voluntarily settle their issues with the assistance of a neutral mediator who helps them explore solutions they may not receive in a court of law.

Mediation is a voluntary process.  The parties are not compelled to accept resolution unless they agree to compromise.

Arbitration

Ms. Ryan has served as an arbitrator on the Employment Law Panel for the American Arbitration Association previously and received her training from the American Arbitration Association University.  She now offers arbitrator services independently.

Arbitration is a form of conflict resolution similar to a trial, but in a private and confidential setting.  The arbitrator acts as a private judge in matters covered by arbitration agreements.  The arbitrator issues binding rulings in an expedited fashion often lacking in the traditional litigation setting.

Having represented both employers and employees in arbitration and in state and federal courts, Ms. Ryan brings a comprehensive and substantive view of employment law and real world expertise to cases she decides as an arbitrator.
